United Stationers Foundation

Who We Are

The United Stationers Charitable Foundation is committed to empowering others to make a meaningful difference in lives. As a private 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization in the state of Illinois, the Foundation is a way to connect our associates with meaningful charitable activities on a local and company-wide basis.

Our model is intended to empower our associates as leaders and participants in the work of the Foundation. The Board is comprised of associates from across our businesses and operating locations.

Ultimately, our mission and work will be brought to every company location and managed in cooperation with local associate-lead councils.

What We Do

Our Vision

“The United Stationers Charitable Foundation exists to coordinate and mobilize United Stationers resources to make a difference in the lives of those in need through financial support and hands-on involvement.”

Grant making is one means to accomplish our mission and work. Donations of time and talent also contribute to the success of our mission. We aim to integrate these valuable resources in our grant making. In this way, we make a greater impact on lives by increasing the capacity of charities to serve, as well as increasing our own understanding of the needs of others.

Spotlight Company-wide Partner

Habitat for Humanity, International

Our associates have responded with passion to Habitat for Humanity’s open invitation to people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. In less than three years our relationship with Habitat for Humanity has grown from a one time, single day event to a company-wide initiative. On an annual basis, hundreds of associates from across our company donate thousands of hours of service in building homes, including the following sites: Atlanta, Baltimore, North Suburban Chicago and other communities.

Local Partner Highlight

Teachers Treasures, Indianapolis

For millions of students in this country, basic school supplies remain a luxury. According to a study conducted by the Elementary School Journal, a student’s classroom behavior and attitude toward learning improve when they have the necessary school supplies. We are proud that United Stationers associates have developed a strong relationship with Kids in Need affiliate Teachers Treasures, Inc., of Indianapolis. On an annual basis, Teachers Treasures receives nearly 9,000 individual teacher visits benefiting as many as 90,000 students.

United Stationers associates donate time as board members and volunteers. Associates have also adopted a local classroom and hand-deliver supplies to the students on a regular basis. The United Stationers Charitable Foundation has extended a grant to Teachers Treasures in support of their vital role in bringing supplies and encouragement to our local classrooms.

Students at a local school receive backpacks and schools supplies donated by United Stationers and are treated to a gathering hosted by our Indianapolis associates.

Requests for Support
